Hello Gino Piccoli , It has been a long time since I have communicated with you . I have viewed your website and found it to be very good .It is great to be able to see both the town and the great people who live in Castagna. The town appears to be in the mountains the same as Utica New York. My wife (Theresa Rose Graziano) and her family have lived here in Utica since 1896. Theresa's family owned and ran a restaurant in Utica for many years (GRAZIANO'S REGAL RESTUARANT)-- the best Pizza and bread in the town . My wife Theresa also makes excellent Sauce and meatballs, she learned from her mother. At Christmas ,Theresa's mother (Rosina Graziano) made the 7 fish dishes for Christmas eve. I am not Italian, so this was very strange for me to understand, but when I tasted it , I became Italian. Theresa is at this now making the cookies for our family for Chirstmas. Santa Clause also loves the Cookies(so do I). ------ Theresa and I have been gathering information concerning the GRAZIANO family as well as other relatives from Castagna . We have many questions about her family in Castagna and will appreciate it very much if you could help us get answers to give to our children and grandchildren (we have many). If you do not have the answers we fully understand and would appreciate any answers you could provide. I am including with this email several pictures of the present family as including Theresa's Grandmother and Grandfather Teresa ARCURI and VINCENZO GRAZIANO . It will be acceptable to post these on your website . I have also attached an ancestor/Heritage chart identifying all of THERESA GRAZIANO'S relatives who were living in Castagna. It is 5 pages and shows dates of Birth , Marriage , Death, SERAFINO GRAZIANO and his wife FRANCESCA MARIA DEFAZIO left Castagna and went to Utica , New York in 1896. Traveling with them was a daughter --MARIA ISABELLA GRAZIANO (18 years old) , VINCENZO GRAZIANO (15 years old) and SERAFINA GRAZIANO (1 year old) ... SERAFINO GRAZIANO (born 1854) also was previously married to SERAFINA ELISABETTA DEFAZIO but she died in Italy. SERAFINO also had a daughter MARIA CONLANZA GRAZIANO who stayed in Castagna and went to Utica with her husband ROSARIO CARDAMONE in 1900...........SERAFINO's son VINCENZO GRAZIANO is my wife THERESA GRAZIANO's Grandfather. He married TERESA ARCURI in Utica in 1903 .TERESA was also from Castagna and came to Utica in 1900. They had 9 children. The questions Theresa an I have at this time are-------- (1) Why did so many of the people of Castagna leave their home land and family to go to the USA (Utica) in the years after 1890 ?.......(2) Are their any of THERESA 's Cousin's , Aunt's , Uncles or other relatives living in Castagna at this time ?........ (3) Did any of THERESA's relatives also come to Utica or other cities in the USA after 1900 ?.... (4) Were there schools in Castagna before 1900 ? ... (5) What was the occupation or work jobs in Castagna in 1900 ? ....................................................There is a lot of information in this email we understand you may not have what we are asking but Theresa and I appreciate anything you can do ...ALL of the Graziano (and Manning) family wish you and your family a HAPPY AND MERRY CHRISTMAS. We hope Santa Clause(Babbo Natale) and La Befana give good gifts to the Piccoli Family............Sincerely Doug and Theresa (Graziano) Manning ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: A Douglas Manning <dougmanning2010@gmail.com> |
